Pete Mallory's
Surf City Sunset Grille has a really long name for a
restaurant. Some call it "Pete's" and some say it's the
"Surf City Grill" (without the 'e' in 'grille'. Whatever you
want to call it, the food is very tasty. Best appreciated
during the special days when you get discounts to keep the
bill under $60 for 2, there are lots of specials and in the
summer some great Polynesian Dancers perform at a luau which
is spectacular.
The food is
great. The chef comes has an extensive background in
many upscale restaurants preparing all types of meals but
the faire at this restaurant might be called designer
casual. While the presentations are fun and colorful, the
foods utilize a fair share of sweet and sour for contrast
and impression. Having tried a variety of dishes throughout
the several years of existence of this young restaurant, we
notice that they are always tweaking the menu and trying new
items. Don't get too attached to something you enjoy. Just
be prepared to like what you sample and find that the food
is consistently likeable.
If you want
something a little different, we highly recommend you check
this intimate club out and go on one of the Friday or
Saturday nights when music is being played. (see
calendar of events)
