2005 Scion tC

Through the summer months, little demand was placed on the smallest long-termer, the Scion tC. That is understandable given the additions to the company's long-term fleet'a family-friendly Land Rover LR3 and a fun-loving Porsche 911 Carrera S. As staffers stayed busy shuttling vacationing families and cruising on warm summer evenings, the Scion was relegated primarily to airport-transporter status.

If Toyota's Scion division is supposed to be all about the young, first-time car buyer, then who better to design Scions than young, first-time car buyers' Thus, Art Center College of Design in Pasadena was tasked by Toyota's youthful Scion division with just such a project - design some future Scions and tell us how to market them.

2005 Scion tC: First-quarter update
Take a deep breath and you can almost detect a faint odor emanating from the interior fabric in our long-term Scion tC. It's not really there'the company's car remains nearly pristine, despite three months in service and 6090 miles on the clock. But olfactory memory is powerful, and we know that if the tC had arrived a few decades earlier, say as a Toyota version of a Datsun B210, it would have reeked of cannabis and/or soggy sweat socks.

Feds investigate possible wind deflector glass defect on Scion tC
Toyota has launched and sold 200,000 units of three Scion vehicles in just over two years without a safety recall. But that achievement may be in jeopardy. Federal safety officials said last week that they are stepping up an investigation of wind deflectors on the sunroofs of 2005 Scion tC coupes. Some deflectors have shattered, showering glass on vehicle occupants.
