During the quiet months of winter when
Huntington Beaches are beautiful, serene, and nearly
empty, one would hardly know there's action stirring for
the spring and summer seasons that each year the seaside
city in Southern California's Orange County embarks on
with a list of sports that "hit the beach." From March
National Professional Paintball League action to surfing
and beach volleyball season already calling, Huntington
Beach fans can start packing their bags for some intense
sun, smooth sand and pure exhilaration.
The
number of local events stretches from the first week of
spring to well into fall. The AVP will bring pro beach
volleyball to Southern California three times, kicking
off in Huntington Beach on May 26-28. Surfing events
include action from the world's top men and women in
their championship tour events, plus a full slate of
World Qualifying Series events, including the annual
U.S. Open of Surfing. Longboarders and team surfers will
get their day, too. The NSSA National Championships, the
HB Pro/Am Surf Series and Volcom series will offer
opportunities to shine, while the year's finale will be
the ISA World Games - sort of the World Baseball Classic
of surfing - with an international field of athletes
surfing for their country, right at the Huntington Beach
Pier.
